MailWasher - Why Use It?

    MailWasher allows you to preview your email right on the server. Email software like Eudora Pro have very powerful email filtering functions built in, however for these filters to work, you still have to first download the email. If you have spam, then that spam also must be first downloaded in order to be filtered and deleted. This is where mailwasher is better than using your email software for filtering.

    Fortunately, many ISP's and web hosting companies now offer some sort of email filter tools as part of their service packages. (We offer Spam Vault to our customers.) These tools allow the user to remove spam via filters before it gets to their inbox. Spammers can be ingenius in getting around filters, so this is where Mailwasher provides additional protection after filtering because you can delete the junk that got through without having download it first.
Note: We no longer recommend bouncing unwanted email. Most spammers use bogus from or reply to addresses. So bouncing spam back accomplishes nothing and doubles your bandwidth requirements (costs you more money).

    Most people use email software that is HTML enabled. That means they can view email as web pages (or is that web pages as email?). By emailing web pages spammers can include malicious scripts that can spread viruses, install remote control software, or just simply contain web bugs. A web bug not only alerts the sender they did indeed send their junk to a valid email address, it also lets them know exactly when YOU opened it and how much time you spent reading it.
